Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam says decision is required on future of its international container port, amid appeals to use the land to help fix housing crisis

The future of Hong Kong’s international container port must be resolved sooner or later, according to the city’s leader, who admitted it was less competitive than other facilities in the Greater Bay Area when she was urged to take back the land for housing.But Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said on Wednesday there were no current plans to change the use of the site, describing the matter as sensitive and one that would require strategic planning.“I am sure it would stir a backlash…
